This painting is inspired by an old flume on a small river near my home. In the spring you can't even see it as the water is so high and fast. By late spring the water funnels through the opening. I have sat for hours watching the pattern bubbles and leaves make as they navigate the flume. It is also a spot where a great blue heron comes to fish. She stands motionless gazing into the pool only to dart in and snag a fish.
